ABOUT US

Aleks Marinković, Sc.D.

Scientist, Engineer

Aleks is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. His research focuses on mechanobiology, development of in vitro models of human lung and tissue engineering.

TractionsForAll came as a result of his thesis work. Acknowledging the contributions of all predecessors at Harvard School of Public Health, Aleks improved experimental methods for determining the tractions and paved the way towards a higher throughput system.

Dan has encouraged, supported and mentored this work as Aleks' academic advisor.

Daniel Tschumperlin, Ph.D.

Professor, Scientist, Engineer

Dan holds the Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Associate Professor of Physiology positions at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is the head of The Tissue Repair and Mechanobiology laboratory.

The research of his group focuses on the respiratory system and how the structure, function and mechanics of the lung are regulated in health and disease.

Among other contributions, Dan has pioneered use of atomic force microscopy to characterize the mechanical properties of normal and diseased lung tissue at the molecular and cellular scale. This gives insight into the spatial and temporal alterations in mechanics that accompany disease and serves as reference for recreating (patho)physiologically-relevant mechanical environment in vitro.
